The Beastie Boys’ Adam Yauch, aka MCA, announced today that he has salivary gland cancer, and that the group will be canceling upcoming tour dates and pushing back the release of their new LP, Hot Sauce Committee Part 1.
The good news for Adam (and fans), is that the cancer is localized to his parotid gland and lymph node, and unlikely to spread. He will undergo surgery next week, followed by radiation treatment. Yauch calls the news “a pain in the ass” but seems to be in good spirits.
The Butter Room wishes MCA a speedy recovery and all the best as the group moves forward from this setback. You guys rock!

What is The Butter Room?
The Butter Room was built to spread and discuss live music. The contributors of this site all volunteer their time to provide the content. We do this as a labor of love. Our name, The Butter Room, references an small, low-lit room in a Virginia Tech Fraternity with nothing but a few benches and tables. You go there to get away from all distractions and have a conversation, which is what we want to foster here: a place where you can get away from all the distractions of life to enjoy and discuss live music.
