Little Brown Bird - Jeff Beck & Eric Clapton
11.29.07 - Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, London, England
A rare Muddy Waters cover by two of the greats at the legendary London club. This was during Jeff Beck’s two night run which featured sit ins from Clapton, Joss Stone, Leo Green, the Big Town Playboys, and Imogen Heap. The audience for the show, which was only 200 strong (the venue’s capacity), featured an equally star studded lineup, as Paul McCartney, Jimmy Paige, and Jon Bon Jovi were all in attendance.
Too much musical bliss on this one to just pick one song. More to come.
Fix It - Ryan Adams & the Cardinals
11.19.08 - The Dome, Brigthon England
Have you listened to Cardinology
yet? Hope so. Here is the first “single” from the Cardinals new release, live from Brighton last month. Truly can’t wait to see these guys in 2009. They are at the top of my must see list.

Times Like These - Ryan Adams
11.8.08 - BBC Studios, London
Download this performance of the Foo Fighters hit, along with “Fix It” from the same radio program at Live Music Archive.
Echoes - Pink Floyd
9.30.71 - Paris Cinema, London, England
“Echoes” is perhaps one of the only songs in rock history that justly deserves the alliterative title of “epic.” And while its glory is fully displayed on the album Meddle, it’s true majesty lies in its live performance. Many a Floyd fan is familiar with the breathtaking version from Live At Pompeii, just the band and the empty, abandonded ampitheater. It gives me chills every single time I watch it (or just listen to it).
Yet there are very few other recordings of a live “Echoes” that do the song or band justice, perhaps because the original (well, second) lineup could do something with this tune that none after it could. Hence this 1971 version - clocking in at 26 1/2 minutes - from London is not only in pristine quality but finds Pink Floyd at the height of their collective talents.

The Butter Room was built to spread and discuss live music. The contributors of this site all volunteer their time to provide the content. We do this as a labor of love. Our name, The Butter Room, references an small, low-lit room in a Virginia Tech Fraternity with nothing but a few benches and tables. You go there to get away from all distractions and have a conversation, which is what we want to foster here: a place where you can get away from all the distractions of life to enjoy and discuss live music.
