The final board track from the 8/7/98 show. Another tasty Ghost.
Out of the 26 shows over the 8 years (1996-2004) that I caught Phish, I only saw one Forbins. I realize I am asking a lot to see it at one of the three shows I plan to catch this year, but please please!
Unfortunately, a few of these leaked board tracks are cut, but there is enough meat to still post them. Take for instance this Mike’s Song. We don’t get the “Simple” and “Albuquerque” that follows, but we still have almost 13 minutes of the goodness that leads up to it.
Vultures - Phish
7.22.97 - Walnut Creek, Raleigh NC
Our good friends over at Hidden Track got their hands on a full-length clip of Vultures from Phish’s upcoming Walnut Creek DVD.
We have lots more from Walnut Creek - check out audio versions of Taste and DWD > Mike’s > Simple > I am H2O > Weekapaug.
Taste - Phish
7.22.97 - Walnut Creek, Raleigh NC
Over on their mySpace and Facebook sites, Phish has released a mp3 of Taste from the 7.22.97 show, which will be available on DVD August 5th. You can pre-order it here.
Last week, I posted an audience version of DWD > Mike’s > Simple > I am H2O > Weekapaug from this same show, which was my favorite musical moment of the night. The second, and it’s a close second, is this Taste. Walnut Creek was soaked by a hellacious thunderstorm during the first set with the climax occurring during Taste. You can hear the thunder in the background during Page’s solo, and then again towards the end of Trey’s solo. Can’t wait to see this on DVD.
Down with Disease > Mike’s Song > Simple > I am Hydrogen > Weekapaug Groove - Phish
7.22.97 - Walnut Creek, Raleigh NC
This show is Phish’s next live DVD release, which comes out August 5th. You can pre-order it here.
I was lucky enough to attend it in person in the reserved seating section, thus avoiding the wrath of mother nature as a torrential downpour soaked Walnut Creek that night.
I have two very specific musical memories from that night. This one is my favorite. Listen closely to the DWD > Mike’s segue. It is monumental.

The Butter Room was built to spread and discuss live music. The contributors of this site all volunteer their time to provide the content. We do this as a labor of love. Our name, The Butter Room, references an small, low-lit room in a Virginia Tech Fraternity with nothing but a few benches and tables. You go there to get away from all distractions and have a conversation, which is what we want to foster here: a place where you can get away from all the distractions of life to enjoy and discuss live music.
